Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum: Closed From 1 December 2026 to 4 March 2027

The Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, is closed from Tuesday 1 December 2026 to Thursday 4 March 2027. The City of Takarazuka, which runs the museum, gives the reason as replacing the lift inside the building and other work on the interior.

From Monday 1 March 2027, adult admission rises from 700 yen to 900 yen. Both changes are announced in Japanese on the city’s pages for the museum. The English page about the museum on the Takarazuka tourism association’s site mentions neither (checked 9 October 2026).

This guide covers the closed days before the closure, admission and the discount for overseas visitors, what changed at the entrance, and the walk from the stations.

Quick Facts

The Closure and the New Price

The notice, last updated on 11 March 2026, says the museum is closed from Tuesday 1 December 2026 to Thursday 4 March 2027 for the replacement of the lift and work inside the building. It gives the closure as running until 4 March. We did not find a reopening date on the museum’s pages (checked 9 October 2026). If you plan to visit in March 2027, check the museum’s notice and its list of closed days, linked above, before you go, or ask through the museum’s inquiry form, which is in Japanese.

The same notice sets the new price. From Monday 1 March 2027, an adult ticket costs 900 yen instead of 700 yen, and 720 yen instead of 560 yen in a group of 10 or more. The notice lists no change for junior high and high school students (300 yen) or elementary school pupils (100 yen).

The new price starts on 1 March 2027, while the museum is still closed. By those two dates, any visit after the closure is at the new price.

The Closed Days Before the Closure

The museum’s list of closed days for the rest of 2026 gives Monday 19 October, Monday 26 October, Monday 9 November, Monday 16 November and Monday 30 November, and then every day from 1 December. Reading that list, the last open day before the closure is Sunday 29 November 2026. We did not find that day named on the museum’s pages.

The current exhibition runs from 11 September to 29 November 2026, according to the museum’s home page.

We did not find a notice about entry limits for the weeks before the closure (checked 9 October 2026). The museum posts its notices on its Japanese home page.

Admission and the Discount for Overseas Visitors

Until 28 February 2027, admission is 700 yen for adults, 300 yen for junior high and high school students, and 100 yen for elementary school pupils.

Overseas visitors who show a KANSAI RAILWAY PASS or KANSAI ONE PASS at the reception get 20% off an individual ticket: 560 yen for adults, 240 yen for students and 80 yen for elementary school pupils. Each card covers one person. The page says the discount is for foreign nationals visiting Japan, and that Japanese nationals showing these cards do not get it. The page gives these prices at the current rates; we did not find the discounted price after 1 March 2027.

The museum’s information pages say admission tickets are also sold through Lawson Ticket, Rakuten Travel and e+. We did not open those sellers’ pages. We did not find a reservation requirement for entry on the museum’s pages (checked 9 October 2026).

Guided visit
Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum guided tour and animation workshop (Klook)
What this is
A guided visit led by a staff member, with the animation workshop. Its page lists admission, English-speaking staff and the guided tour as included. Check its cancellation terms on its page before you book. The museum is closed from 1 December 2026 to 4 March 2027 (above), so check your date against that first. We have not taken it.

The Front Entrance and the Animation Workshop

Since 1 October 2025, the museum has kept its G-floor (ground floor) entrance closed, except on days such as busy days and event days. It asks visitors to enter and leave through the main entrance on floor 1.

The animation workshop on the G floor takes up to 14 people, and a session takes about 40 minutes. You sign up on the day. Timed sessions, starting from 9:45 with the last one at 15:45, are as a rule for weekends and public holidays; on crowded weekdays the museum may also use them. We did not find a fee on the workshop page. The page does not say when sign-up opens on the day, and we did not find it on the other museum pages we read (checked 9 October 2026). The museum takes questions through its inquiry form, in Japanese.

Getting to the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum

From Takarazuka Station, on the JR and Hankyu lines, the museum is about a 10-minute walk along the Hananomichi. From Takarazuka-minamiguchi Station on the Hankyu line, it is about a 7-minute walk across the Takarazuka Ohashi bridge.

From Osaka, the museum’s access page gives the JR Fukuchiyama Line from Osaka Station to Takarazuka; the Hankyu Takarazuka Line rapid express from Umeda to Takarazuka, the end of the line; and the Hankyu Kobe Line limited express from Umeda, changing at Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi to the Imazu Line for Takarazuka-minamiguchi. From Kobe, it gives the Hankyu Kobe Line limited express from Kobe-Sannomiya, changing at Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi to the Imazu Line for Takarazuka-minamiguchi.

The museum has no car park of its own.
