Fullmetal Alchemist Exhibition in Osaka, 16 December to 10 January: Timed Tickets Only

The Fullmetal Alchemist x Yomi no Tsugai exhibition, which marks 25 years of Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist and five years of her current series Yomi no Tsugai, comes to the Hankyu Umeda Main Store in Osaka from Wednesday 16 December 2026 to Sunday 10 January 2027. Every day is timed entry: when you buy a ticket, you choose the date and an entry time slot.

Advance tickets are sold only on Asoview, a Japanese ticket site, until 23:59 on Tuesday 15 December. From 16 December, same-day tickets are sold only when places are left, on Asoview and at the venue. The exhibition’s site, the store’s page and the ticket pages are in Japanese (checked 18 October 2026).

This guide covers buying a timed ticket, the New Year closure and the shorter days, what is inside, the other cities on the tour, and the walk from the Umeda stations.

Quick Facts

Buying a Timed Ticket

Hankyu Umeda’s page says advance tickets are sold only on Asoview, from 10:00 on 7 October to 23:59 on 15 December 2026. Buying needs a free Asoview account, and you can buy up to six tickets at once. When you buy, you choose the date and an entry time slot. Your ticket also shows a gathering time within that slot: Hankyu Umeda’s page asks you to arrive around it, and Asoview’s help page for the exhibition says it cannot be chosen and may change; its example is a ticket for 11:00–12:00 that may ask you to gather at 11:20 or 11:40. Asoview adds a system fee of 165 yen per ticket, and the ticket is a QR code.

Once bought, the date, time and ticket type cannot be changed, and tickets cannot be refunded or reissued. If you arrive after your entry slot, you may be refused entry that day, without a refund. Hankyu Umeda’s page makes an exception for delays to public transport and other unavoidable reasons: you can enter on the same day only, following the staff’s directions, and it says people who do not follow them may be asked to leave. If wide transport suspensions make the visit itself difficult, it says Hankyu Umeda will explain what to do on its website. Asoview’s help page says buying tickets to resell is prohibited, and that resold tickets are not valid for entry.

Bundle tickets, sold in advance only and not at the venue, add a set of five postcards of the main visual (3,450 yen), the official exhibition book (3,800 yen) or both (5,450 yen). Asoview lists one price for each bundle ticket, with no separate price for students or children. Each bundle ticket is also your admission ticket, so that price is the whole ticket before Asoview’s system fee. Staff hand over the items at the entrance when you enter, one set per ticket, and not after the exhibition ends. Hankyu Umeda’s page says the postcard set comes only with these tickets and is not sold in the shop; the exhibition book is also sold in the shop area.

Asoview’s pages are in Japanese. We did not find whether a card issued outside Japan can be used to pay, on the exhibition, store or ticket pages or in Asoview’s help pages (checked 18 October 2026). Asoview’s help page on card errors says a card whose issuer does not support 3D Secure may not be usable, and its help page on payment says the payment methods depend on the ticket. To ask before you buy, Asoview has a contact form, in Japanese, and says it usually replies by email within 24 hours.

From 16 December, same-day tickets are sold only when places are left, on Asoview and at the venue; Asoview stops selling them an hour before each entry slot begins. Hankyu Umeda’s page asks visitors to check availability on Asoview, and says it will not answer questions about how many tickets are left.

Children of elementary school age and younger must come with a guardian aged 18 or over, who also needs a ticket. Children below school age go free, up to two for each guardian aged 18 or over with a ticket, but they do not receive the visitor gift and cannot buy goods. Staff may ask visitors with high school or elementary and junior high school tickets for ID, such as a student card. A high school student can enter with an adult ticket, without a refund of the difference, but an adult cannot enter with a student ticket, even by paying the difference.

The New Year Closure and the Shorter Days

The exhibition is open from 10:00 to 20:00, and you need to enter by an hour before closing. Asoview’s page gives the first entry of each day as 10:10. Within those hours, arrive around the gathering time printed on your ticket, as Hankyu Umeda’s page asks.

The exhibition is closed on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 January 2027. It closes at 18:00 on Thursday 31 December, at 19:00 on Sunday 3 January and at 17:00 on the last day, Sunday 10 January; Asoview gives the last entry on those days as 17:00, 18:00 and 16:00. Hankyu Umeda’s page says the hours may change.

Inside the Exhibition

The official site lists more than 300 original drawings and rough sketches, three-dimensional displays with voices newly recorded by the cast, photo spots, a special collaboration theatre and Arakawa’s reference materials. The Yomi no Tsugai part covers the story up to volume 10.

The official site and Hankyu Umeda’s page say still photos on a smartphone or tablet are allowed, but some areas do not allow photos, and both ask visitors not to take photos with single-lens reflex or digital cameras, or to film video. A separate notes section on Hankyu Umeda’s page says cameras, including single-lens reflex and compact cameras, cannot be used, and that only phones and tablets can be used in the areas where photos are allowed. The notes also ask visitors not to use flash, selfie sticks or tripods, or to record sound, and not to take photos or video in the shop area.

Each person with a ticket for that day receives one of four manga cards drawn by Arakawa for the exhibition, at random, while they last. In the shop area, each 3,000 yen spent (tax included) gets one of ten ticket-style cards, at random, while they last; receipts cannot be combined.

The shop area needs a ticket for that day. You can enter it once per ticket and pay once, and you cannot visit the shop without the exhibition. Asoview’s page says you receive the shop entry ticket at the exhibition entrance, so you cannot go to the shop first.

There is no re-entry to the exhibition or the shop area, and you cannot go back from the shop to the exhibition. Suitcases, carry cases and other large bags cannot be taken in, and the entrance does not keep bags; Hankyu Umeda’s page points to coin lockers at stations and nearby. Eating and drinking are not allowed inside.

The Other Cities on the Tour

The exhibition opened at Matsuya Ginza in Tokyo, from 13 August to 2 September 2026. The official site then lists Daimaru Sapporo from 14 October to 1 November 2026, Korinbo Daiwa in Ishikawa from 27 November to 13 December 2026, Osaka, BOSS E・ZO FUKUOKA in Fukuoka from 15 to 31 January 2027, and Nagoya PARCO in Aichi from 6 to 28 February 2027. For Nagoya, we did not find the hours or ticket details on the official site (checked 18 October 2026). The site says ticket details are on each venue’s ticket page, and lists ticket pages for Sapporo, Ishikawa, Osaka and Fukuoka only, so check it again, linked in the sources below, before February.

Getting to Hankyu Umeda

Asoview’s page gives the walk to the store as about 3 minutes from Osaka-umeda Station on the Hankyu and Hanshin lines, about 4 minutes from JR Osaka Station, about 2 minutes from Umeda Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line and from Higashi-Umeda Station on the Tanimachi Line, about 6 minutes from Nishi-Umeda Station on the Yotsubashi Line, and about 8 minutes from Kitashinchi Station on the JR Tozai Line.
