Shuichi Shigeno Exhibition in Yokote Until 27 December: Tickets at the Door Only

The Yokote Masuda Manga Museum in Yokote, Akita Prefecture, is holding an exhibition of original art by Shuichi Shigeno from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 27 December 2026. The museum’s notice says only same-day tickets are sold, at the venue, and its information page says special exhibition tickets are paid in cash only.

According to the museum, the exhibition covers three of Shigeno’s manga, Initial D, MF Ghost and Subaru to Suisei, with original drawings and colour illustrations. Adult admission to the exhibition is 1,500 yen. The museum’s website is in Japanese (checked 12 October 2026).

This guide covers the dates and closed days, tickets, the café and the stamp rally, and the buses from Jumonji and Yokote stations, where the last bus back leaves earlier on weekends and public holidays.

Tickets: On the Day, at the Museum, in Cash

The exhibition page says only same-day tickets are sold, at the venue. The museum’s information page explains how special exhibition tickets work: you buy a ticket from the machine next to the main reception desk and hand it to the staff at the exhibition entrance, who exchange it for the day’s entry ticket. The ticket is valid only on the day you buy it, and payment is cash only.

The information page also says you can re-enter on the same day by showing your ticket at the exhibition reception, but that some exhibitions do not allow re-entry; it asks you to follow the signs in the exhibition room. Children of elementary school age or younger cannot enter without a parent or guardian.

Paying visitors receive a postcard-style ticket, one of three designs at random, which cannot be exchanged. Children below school age do not receive one.

Photos, Lockers and the Rest of the Museum

Entry to the museum itself is free; the special exhibition is the paid part. The information page says photos and video are not allowed in the exhibition rooms as a rule, though some exhibitions allow photos, and it asks you to follow the signs in each room.

The museum has free lockers, and the main reception keeps bags that do not fit. The museum asks visitors not to bring food or drink in, and not to come in cosplay.

The Café and the Stamp Rally

During the exhibition, the museum’s Manga Café serves a menu tied to the three manga, including a “Hachiroku cheesecake” for Initial D at 880 yen and a hamburger steak Napolitan for MF Ghost at 1,210 yen. The café is open from 10:00 to 16:00, with last orders at 15:30. You order from the ticket machine at the café entrance, payment is cash only, each person orders at least one item, and seats cannot be reserved.

A stamp rally runs for the same dates, with stamp points at the museum and around the Masuda town centre. The exhibition reception gives one stamp sheet to each person with an exhibition ticket. The prize is a sticker, exchanged at the information desk on the first floor until 18:00 on 27 December, while they last.

Getting to the Yokote Masuda Manga Museum

The museum’s access page gives buses to the Masuda Kura no Eki stop from two places: from the Jumonji Station bus stop, the ride takes about 5 to 10 minutes; from the east exit of Yokote Station, about 25 to 30 minutes. It names the Ugo Kotsu Iwaigawa Line and Yokote–Oyasu Line. We did not find the walk from the bus stop to the museum on the access page (checked 12 October 2026). The museum’s phone number, on the same page, is 0182-45-5569.

The timetable on that page marks some buses as not running on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Reading the timetable, on those days the last bus back from Masuda Kura no Eki leaves at 15:24, to both Jumonji Station and Yokote Station; on other days there are also buses at 16:34 and 17:59. The first buses listed arrive at Masuda Kura no Eki at 10:22: the 10:14 from Jumonji Station and the 9:50 from Yokote Station. The museum points to Ugo Kotsu’s website, in Japanese, for the latest times.

By car, the access page gives about 10 minutes from the Jumonji interchange on the Tohoku-Chuo Expressway, and the museum has a free car park.
