teamLab Borderless in Azabudai Hills is one of the few Tokyo attractions where the price you pay depends on when you go. Adult tickets move between ¥3,600 and ¥5,600 depending on the date and time slot. This guide covers what a ticket costs, when the museum opens and closes, which days it shuts entirely, and what to check before you book.

Why You Have to Book Ahead
Entry is by date-and-time-specific ticket, so you are picking a slot, not just a day. Tickets are sold online on a rolling basis, and the price attached to each slot changes. That means the decision isn't only "which day am I free" — it's "which slot do I want to pay for."
The official site also states that tickets are date and time-specific and may sell out, so a slot you want is not guaranteed to still be there later.
What a Ticket Costs
Adult admission (18 and over) is not a single number. It sits between ¥3,600 and ¥5,600, set by the date and time slot you choose. Under-18 pricing is fixed: ¥2,800 for ages 13–17, ¥1,500 for ages 4–12, and free for age 3 and under. Holders of a disability certificate, plus one accompanying person, pay ¥1,800.
For a family of four — two adults plus two children aged 4–12 — the adult half alone swings by up to ¥4,000 depending on which slots you pick. That's worth ten minutes of comparing dates before you commit.
Two Ticket Types Worth Knowing
Most visitors buy the standard Entrance Pass, which specifies your admission time. There is also a Flexible Pass at ¥12,000 for adults and children alike. It fixes the date but not the time — you turn up when you want, up to the last entry time, and join the entry line.
At ¥12,000, the Flexible Pass costs more than double a typical adult Entrance Pass. It buys scheduling freedom, not a better experience, so it only makes sense if your day genuinely can't be pinned to a time slot.
Opening Hours
Standard hours are 8:30 to 21:00, with last entry one hour before closing. Some dates differ:
- Closes at 22:00: August 8–15, and through much of October — the 1st–2nd, 5th–9th, 12th–16th, 19th, 21st–23rd, and 26th–30th
- Closes at 17:00: September 1
Because last entry is one hour before closing, a 17:00 close means the final entry slot is 16:00 — a meaningful difference if you were planning a full day elsewhere first.
October is the date to watch. Late closing applies on most, but not all, October days, so check your specific date rather than assuming.
Days It's Closed
The museum is closed on Tuesday 25 August, Tuesday 8 September, and Tuesday 20 October. There's no point building an itinerary around a date the doors don't open, so check this list against your travel dates before booking anything else in the area.
Buying Your Ticket
Tickets are sold through the official ticketing website and KLOOK. The official site's own notes are not fully consistent about buying at the venue: the price table mentions a ¥200 surcharge for on-site purchase, while the purchasing notes say tickets are not available at the venue, and the FAQ says on-site purchase is possible at a different price if the slot hasn't sold out.
The safe read is simple: book online in advance and don't plan around walking up.
Either route books the same admission. The official store is the more direct one, and the only one that carries the change policy described below; if you would rather book in your own currency, KLOOK's listing for teamLab Borderless prices the same ticket in US dollars, which is worth converting on the day you book rather than comparing as printed.
Tickets bought directly from the official ticketing site can have their date and time changed up to three times, no later than two hours before your admission time. Tickets generally can't be cancelled once purchased.
The Current Special Exhibit
A special exhibition, "On the Asymmetry of the Universe," runs 8 July to 8 October 2026. If seeing it matters to you, that window is the constraint on your booking dates.
Getting There
The museum is in Azabudai Hills Garden Plaza B, on level B1. The two closest stations are Kamiyacho on the Hibiya Line, two minutes from Exit 5, and Roppongi-itchome on the Namboku Line, six minutes from Exit 4. Both connect to the building through an underground passage, so you don't need to come up to street level. There is no museum car park.
Note that this is the Azabudai Hills location. teamLab runs more than one venue in Tokyo, so make sure the ticket you're buying matches the address above.
Booking Checklist
